The film
From grove to press in a single day.
Single estate extra virgin olive oil from our family's grove at Kampia, Cyprus. Picked by hand in December and pressed the same day. First stock lands in the UK in October.
Why a spoonful matters
A tablespoon and a half a day.
A spoon over tomatoes at lunch, a little more over supper. A tablespoon and a half is about 20 g of olive oil, the daily amount behind the EU's authorised health claim for olive oil polyphenols. Our September test shows Maritsa meets the claim's condition.
Authorised health claim · Regulation (EU) No 432/2012
“Olive oil polyphenols contribute to the protection of blood lipids from oxidative stress.”
The beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 20 g of olive oil, as part of a varied, balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.

What the lab found
Tested in the bottle, not just at the press.
| Test | Result | Extra virgin limit | What it tells you |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free acidity | 0.18% | 0.8% max | How far the fruit had started to break down before pressing. |
| Peroxide value | 4.16 | 20 max | Early oxidation in the oil when tested (mEq O2/kg). |
| K232 | 0.635 | 2.50 max | A second measure of early oxidation. |
| K270 | 0.088 | 0.22 max | Later oxidation, and a check for refined oil. |
| ΔK | 0.003 | 0.01 max | A further check that the oil has not been refined or treated. |
| Hydroxytyrosol and derivatives | 345.5 mg/kg | 5 mg per 20 g for the claim | 6.9 mg in every 20 g of oil. |

The Kleanthous family
From the family behind Big K Products.
Since 1981, the Kleanthous family has supplied Britain's charcoal through Big K Products UK Ltd, a company built on consistent quality and direct supply chains. The business is 100% family owned. For over four decades, provenance has not been a marketing claim: it has been how the operation runs.
Maritsa is produced by the same family on their private estate in Kampia, Cyprus. The same standard that applies to the charcoal applies here. The family name is on the label. That is the guarantee.
